Champai Soren is a politician and the 7th Chief Minister of Jharkhand since February 02, 2024. He is a key member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. As an MLA, Champai represents the Seraikella assembly constituency. He is popular as ‘Jharkhand Tiger’ for his contribution and struggle.
Earlier, Champai was serving as the Cabinet Minister of Transport, operating crucial infrastructure development. Also, he was handling the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes. After the arrest of Hemant Soren in a money laundering case, he became the 7th CM of Jharkhand.

Early Life & Education
Champai Soren was born on 1 November 1956 in Seraikela Kharsawan district, Jharkhand. His father’s name is Simal Soren, a famous tribal leader, and freedom fighter. Champai Soren is married to Manki Soren, a social worker. The couple has three children (1 son & 2 daughters).
Political Career
Champai Soren joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the 1970s, attracted by the party’s commitment to tribal rights and social justice. He was first elected as MLA from Seraikella constituency in 1995 and has secured five consecutive terms.

Throughout his career, Champai Soren held various ministerial roles in the Jharkhand government, including Transport, Science & Technology, Labour, Housing, and Food & Civil Supplies. Briefly serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand in 2013, he made an unsuccessful attempt in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Jamshedpur. Despite this, Champai Soren was elected as the 7th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on January 31, 2024.
